Righthaven is Another Source of Embarassment for Nevada

Having lived in Henderson since moving here from California in 1997, I have been bemused by the number of things Nevada that are just downright embarassing. From a Governor (Gibbons) who made Bozo the Clown appear to have more gravitas to an elected representative who sounds exactly like Mr. Haney from Green Acres (Dina Titus), to Dario Herrera (enough said), to Sharon Angle (OMG!), to a besotted, unshaven Las Vegas mayor who made his money keeping really bad people out of jail so they could terrorize the community, it makes you want to pretend that you're only here on an extended stay. Then comes the Las Vegas Review Journal and their jackbooted Righthaven gestapo, terrorizing their own reraders under the guise of 'protecting' their copyrights. Fortunately for us, it seems that the Righthaven debacle is now starting its spiral into the hell that it has created for itself, leaving much embarassment of and for the Review Journal.

Like the embarassments that came before, hopefully we are in the 'This too shall pass' phase of Righthaven. Old Timers in town are quick to point out that this is not the first time that the Review Journal owners have behaved badly here. They at one time owned Channel 3, only to have it stripped away from them by the FCC for bad corporate behavior. Please, lets shift the light back to Arizona for bizarre behavior and let Nevadans bask in their new found respite from looking like the class clown of the 50 states.

Chamber of Horrors!

Not really, of course. The Chamber of Commerce is a wonderful organization that is instrumental in knitting together the business fabric of Henderson. The horror is that about 500 local businesses are off the rolls of the Chamber since the recession started. These aren't businesses that can no lopnger afford the dues for the Chamber....these are businesses who are kaput! Let's hope that the fourth quarter of 2011 will see a positive growth for the Chamber in hopes of an outstanding rebound in 2012.

Welcome to the Henderson Mirror!

Ever since the Greenspun owned Henderson Home News went defunct, there has been a void in the city for a solid information source of news and features. The Henderson Mirror.Com hopes to help fill that void with a 21st Century answer- an E Newspaper that combines text, photo, audio and video into a hearty treatment of things happening in Henderson, Nevada.

This section is YOUR part of the E Newspaper, to announce, rant, rave, explain, and emote!

Enjoy!
